CHANUTE WINS'4OVER IOLA ATTENNIS BY 8-4Victors Expected to Take Championship After Victory Sunday i4Chanute tennis players defeated their nearest rivals for the four-city championship for the second time yesterday when the Iola club lost by 4-8, leaving Chanute probable champions of the tournament.The Iola club is now five games behind Chanute with . almost no chance of overtaking the leaders and Humboldt and Cherryvale, other members of the organization, are far down in matches won and lost.Iolans playing at Chanute broke even in six matches, but Chanute triumphed in all but one of the six matches here., The municipal courts were used yesterday instead of the junior high courts where other matches have been played.Chiurate Strong In DoublesIola won three of four matches in men's doubles. Reid Maxon and James Reid defeated Peterson and Faucett 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. George Vaught and Junior Crook won over Riles and Hudson 7-5, 6-4. Frank Taylor and Martin Grant defeated Rex Truitt and Jim Gilbreath by 6-2, 6-4. Curtis Peterson and Perdue Graves, Chanute, triumphed over Glen dy and. Frank Seymour, Iola, 6-2/ 9-7. The latter two matches ware played at, Iola., ChanuW vfon three out of fourmen's singles events, Lefty Wagnerdefeating Ashley, Chanute, by !6-4, 2-6, 6-3 for the only Iola victory. Alder j of Chanute defeated Willard Trout wine 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the other singles event at Chanute.I Miller, Rosebush Lose, jEari Miller, Iola, lost to Gene Buchanan here by 5-7, 6-3, 9-7, and Bob Rosebush bowed to Lester Nichols by 4-6, 6-1, 8-6.Maw?Chanute won all of the four matches for women.At Chanute Misses Willis and Carson defeated Miss Tillie Litwin and Miss Charlotte Thompson, Iola, by 6-3,.6-4 in doubles, and Miss Babe Horell defeated Miss Lila Hurlock 6-0, 6-1 in singles.On the courts here Miss Rose Haight defeated Mrs. Burney Milf ler 6-3, 6-3 in singles.
