T. Rose announced today.* * ► •' After having his game with the House of Davids tall through, Rose takes pleasure in announcing the signing ' of the ' Monarchs, twice winner of the world’s • colored championship, and four times win* her of, the National Colored league pfennaht, from which circuit the Monarchs have now withdrawn to play exhibition ball..The Monarchs for 11 years were members of the league, but withdrew thi§ season to capitalize onits name by playing independent baseball. The Monarchs, are not only a good ball club but a colorful one, rating much higher than the Gilkerson Colored Giants, the best Negro ball dub ;fcb play here in thepast.Like the Gilkerson club, the Monarchs also emphasize the comedy side of the game and amuse the fans before game-time with an exhibition of phantom bail* . They also clown in the regular game, although not until they are certain of winning.The game between the Monarchs and the Winonas is slated to start at 5:15 next Wednesday at the park and Manager Rose hopes to have his team ih the best of shape, in-duding his two pitchers, Jones and Vohdrashek, to . give local fans areal treat., Rose was disappointed in losing the opportunity of playing the House; of Davids when the team cancelled the. game, slated for Sunday morning, but in booking the Monarchs he has Just as good or perhaps a better ball dub and one that* is noted for its showmanshipand color.The Winonas will play at Alma Sunday, Rose definitely announced today.
