The feeling of foul play has become so certaiu iu that locality that the idea of suicide has almost died out.—Clinton NewTs: About 1,500 people witnessed the game of base ball {Saturday forenoon between the Olympics, of Dubuque, and the Blues, of Cliutou. The African population wras out en masse, and not a few* of Clinton’s sports were present, counting on a game remarkable for its numerous and laughable errors rather than for good play. The latter class of spectators were happily disappointed, and were given a regular treat. From the time that the Blues retired in one, two, three order, until B. F. Cooper’s w icked drive into left for three bases almost decided the game in favor of the Cliutou team, the game w?as replete w ith sharp and brilliant plays. Both batteries were very effective aud would do credit to any team, w hile F. Hamilton at short played a perfect game. The Clinton team was weak at second base and in right field. With two good players to fill those positions they w'ould prove an ugly team to handle. “Billy” Adams umpired the game aud gavo general satisfaction, neither side making a siugle kick. The Dubuque loy8 were a very gentlemanly set, and it is to be hoped that they will play another game iu Cliutou ere the season is over.
