The Emmetsburg people had much to say in disparagement of West Bend’s Fourth of July celebration. They circulated the report that the real Flandreau Indians were to appear at Lu Verne. Minn., on that date, and therefore the Bend’s offering must be counterfeit. The team that was so badly beaten by the Brownies was genuine, however, it being the Flandreau second team which appeared at Lu Verne.
