Hulet-Gentry lead canoe race fieldThe Kokomo team of Ed Hulet and Dave Gentry covered the 7-mile course in 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 30 seconds to post fast time at Saturday’s Haynes-Apperson Festival Canoe and Kayak Races.Finishing second to Hulet and Gentry in the local classic division was another Kokomo pair, Mark Anderson and Bill Frew, in 2:18:00.Kokomo residents Darren Williams and Lance Shelby won the novice division for two-person canoes in 1:28:34. Kokomo paddlers swept the division as the team of Jeff Patchett and Russell Holder finished second in 1:35:18, with Brian Davis and Jim Cook close behind in 1:38:50.Novice: 1.
