Midwest Connie Mac]• •defend Sports FestivThe American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) has named a 15-player Connie Mack squad to compete in National Sports Festival II. This competition will take place at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. July 26-30.The AABC team — playing under the Midwest banner — will again be pitted against the best Babe Ruth, American Legion and Pony Baseball teams representing other regions of the United States. The AABC’s entry last summer won the gold qfcrtal.National Sports Festival II, sponsored by the U.S. Olympic Committee, provides the highest possible levels of competion for athletes in 31 sports in preparation for international competition in non-Olympic years.The 15-players team is composed of 11 Michigan Connie Mackers, three from Ohio and one from Indiana.AABC Vice President Joe Cooper has announced that Herman Kander, veteran scout and sports supervisor from Toledo, will manage the team.
