Last night's scheduled doubleheader between theHi-Toms and Shelby was rained out.It will be High Point Chamber of Commerce Night and manager Ralph Rowe plans to pitch righthanderDave Bryce, who sports a 6-0 record for the season.Bryce will be seeking his seventh straight victory against the Cardinals, who finished in last place in the first half of the Western Carolinas League split season.LAST NIGHTS washout added two more doubleheaders to the Thomasville schedule. The Hi-Toms will nowhave to play at least four twin bills in the second half. They played eight in the first half.After tonight’s game, the Hi-Toms are slated to travel to Gastonia on Wednesday, and play the Pirates at Finch Field on Thursday.Monday was a time for ending those long streaks in the Western Carolinas League. Streaks of both kinds.I AST-PLACE Spartanburg shut out Greenville, 5-0, in the first game of their doubleheader. It was Spartanburg’s first win in six tries.But Greenville came back to take the second game,M. m HFirst-place Salisbury lost to Lexington, 5-2, Salisbury's first loss in four outings. Their second game was rainedGASTONIA shut out Rock Hill, 5-0, and their second game was also rained out.Salisbury remains at the top of the standings and Shelby is close behind. Next come Gastonia and Lexington. Thomasville, Greenville and Spartanburg follow in thatorder.Tonight, Spartanburg at Salisbury, Gastonia at Greenville and Shelby at Lexington.
