Excellent pitching in Amvet loopsBailey, Irby blank foes on no-hits to highlight SeniorThere were a pair of no-hit shutouts recorded in recent Amvet Senior Baseball League action.Denny Bailey helped Bodey notch its first win in 5 tries by no-hitting Team Sports, 10-0, while Dave Irby of K of C fired his gem at Bohn Implement, 9-0.Bailey, who fanned 7 and walked 3, got all the runs he needed when his teammates erupted for 5 runs in the first inning.Steve Jarrett drove in 2 runs with a single and a double, with Charlie Weyer adding a 2-run single. Bailey stroked a single and a double to bring home 1, with Jeremy Szteiter belting a RBI-double and Keith Chadwell smacking a RBI-single.Greg Miller and Rick Lill rounded out the attack with singles.Tommy Bertsch was the victim of Bodey’s big first inning and suffered the loss for Team Sports. Bertsch was relieved by Rob Johnson before the first out was recorded and Johnson went 5V3 innings with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks. Chad Dubbert finishing up with 3 strikeouts and 4 walks.Team Sports is now 2-3 on the seasson.K of C scored a run in the first inning, and then added 3 more in the third and fourth to pull away from Bohn Implement.Irby was in control the whole way, fanning 11 and walking 4, plus added a single and a run scored to the cause. Mike Franklin was the leading hitter for the winners, going 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBIs, with Jamarious Yancey belting a RBI-double.Isaac Poole, Shawn Brown and Chris Sims drove in 1 run each with singles, while Eugene Moore also singled for K of C.Greg Gosser suffered the loss for Bohn (0-4), striking out 6 and walking 3 in 4 innings, with Todd Riley adding a strikeout and 2 walks in 2 frames.In other action, Displayco scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge past Exchange Club, 5-4.Randy Adkins went the final 2% innings to pick up the win for Displayco, with 2 strikeouts and a walk. Starter Jason Caponi fanned 4 and walked 5 in 4V3 innings of work.Damon Rice went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles to drive in 2 runs and lead the winners, with Adkins pounding a 2-run home run. Shaw, who fanned 8 and walked 5, lost his shutout bid by giving up a run in the top of the fifth.Richard Harvey led Cinema club with a single, a double, a home run and 2 RBIs, while Shaw and Nile Sims drove in 2 runs each with a single and a double. Tyron Pickens belted a 3-run triple, with DeMar Gordon bring home 3 with a single. DeAndre Shaw had a single, a double and a RBI, while John Mohr rounded out the attack with a hit.Chad Rosin took the defeat for Trustcorp, going 3»3 innings with 5 strikeouts and 5 walks. Ron Witter went the final frame with a strikeout and 2 walks.Cable System 11, Horizon 4Robbie Wikel went 4 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs to lead Cable System (4-4) past Horizon Dental Group (2-6) in an A1 West matchup.Calvin Churchwell also went 4 for 4 with a triple and a home run to bring in 3 runs while Jeff Proy stroked a pair of singles to drive in 3. Keith Capizzi had a RBI-double and Matt Wilkins added a double to the totals.Wilkins earned the victory for Cable System, going 3 innings with a strikeout and 3 walks. Churchwell went the final 4 frames, striking out 4 and walking 1.Orlondre Pace suffered the defeat with 7 strikouts and 9 walks in 2% innings of work. Sean McNutt went the next 2% with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks, with Matt Weltle finishing up.Pace led the Horizon hitting attack with a single, 2 doubles and a solo home run, with Brian Weller driving in 1 with 2 singles.
