All-Stars Prepare For TourneyThe Slab Fork District Babe Ruth League managers and officials named the above boys to represent the league in the area Babe Ruth League Baseball Tournament which will be held at Harry Lenin field July 27. The All-Stars will clash with Western Greenbrier the afternoon of July 27. The team will be cut down to 15 before tourney time. The players are as follows: First row (left to right) Darrell Moody, assistant manager, Johnny Almond, Helen; Darrell Thompson. Republic Steel; Roger Sears, SlabFork; D. D. Brakefield, Phillips; Gerald Farthing, Helen; Larry DeWeese, Slab Fork; and Johnny Murdock, assistant manager. Second row (left to right* Charles Moody, manager; Larry Rice, Stotesbury; Charles Porter, Phillips; Charles Martin. Republic Steel Jim Maynor. Phillips; Joe Gro-honya, Hall-Home; and Robert Bentley, Hall-Home. Third row (left to right) Charles Wallace, Stotesbury; Steve Zelin-ski, Phillips; Doug Hungate. Helen; Ronnie lfccks, SlabFork; Fountain Christian Stotesbury; Eddie Joe Lynch, Hall-Home and Gene (lark, Stotesbury.Gene Clark (left) of Stotesbury and Robert Bentley (right) of Home-HaU will l*e the two big guns for the league All-Stars in the batting department. Clark plays in the outfield and also can be used as a pitcher. Bentley plays second base and from what his manager says he can “really “play the second bag like a pro.”
