Dale Gies bashed a first-inning homer, his fourth of the season, best in the league, while singles were hit by Rottman, Herb Andres, manager Bob Wasslen, Bill Derlago and Garth Neville.Wasslen appeared in a game for the first time thisseason when he took over catching duties in the fourth inning when regular receiver, Lyle Gallant, suffered an ankle injury.Riv. 3 McA. 5Jon Langston, 3-0, went only five innings for the Blazers, but left the mound chores in the capable hands of Sam Jamieson throughout the final four innings. The score was 4-3 when Langston made his exit, and the Blazers got their insurance run in the seventh.Rob Medoff, who was touched for three runs in the first two innings, suffered the loss. He’s now 2-2.Jamieson, Wayne Poole, Dale Lowes and Brian Rose cracked out two singles apiece for McAuley, with each of them driving in one run. Langston had the other RBI, with a single. The other Blazer safety, a double, came off the bat of Jerry Coppicus.Danny Cassils knocked in ail three Riverside runs with a pair of singles.
