Babe Ruth Baseball NewsPky in the Yuma Babe Ruth League 13-15 City Championships will get under way Thursday with an added attraction this year.will then try for the contest championship before the final city tournament game July 11th.Not only will the city championship be- decided during theseven-day tournament, but also a fundamental contest ofbaseball skills of throwing, hitting and running will be held.The city tournament will start July ,th, with additional games in the single-elimination tournament July 6th, 7th. 8th, 9 th and 11th.The throwing, hitting and running contest is being tried on a local basis only this year, with hopes of expanding to a national contest in 1974.As far as the city championship tournament is concerned, the draw looks like this:The contest for hitting, throwing and running will start for the 13-15 National League players at 6:30 p.m. July 2nd at Keegan Field.Pot the American Leagueplayers, the contest will start July 3rd at 6:30 p.m. at Keegan.The top three in each leagueJuly 5th — Dennis Construction Builders vs. Eagles Steamers at 6:30 at the Complex, followed by the Citizens Title Giants vs. Producers Livestock Cowboys; July Gth - At the Complex, the 01* Trails Dodgers vs. Elks Orioles •at 6:30, followed by Kiwanis Gunners vs. Coca Cola Cardinals; July 6th - At Keegan, •Watkins Cattle Rustlers vs. FOP Pistols at 6:30, followed by Yuma JC JackiabbiLs vs. Yuma Pipe and Steel Angels; July 7th — At Keegan, ValievBuilders Zip PistolsThe Builders blanked the Pistols 5-0 with a two-hit performance by Builders' hurler Ray Ruiz.Ruiz knocked a triple and single for the winners. Mark Harfield lined a ball for a double and Manual Balli, Abe Chavez and Jim Walters got singles.^ The Giants beat the Chiefs •5-3 with Tim Espinoza blasting a home run for the Giants. Mike Helder tripled and Steve Martin singled.Robhie Moser and Don Joh-ston got singles along with Bill Spencer fo the Chiefs.Matthew Roberts doubled and Allen Lee singled for thePistols.The Angels won a game by forfeit over the Streamers, and the Orioles won a game by forfeit over the Indians.The Gunners and Dodgers played to a 12-12 deadlock.But getting hits for the Dodgers were Fred Mungcr with a triple and David Foa-venfelder with a double and single. Sonny Seale and done Rowe each rapped sin gles.For the Gunners, MarkKerekes, Mike Tonrlin and Chris Herrera doubled.The Cowboys blasted the Cardinals 12-6 with Ray Munoz leading the Cowboys’ offensive attack with a double. David Borunda, Hyder Shane and BiH Brown each got singles.Earning two triples for the Cardinals was Richard Ford.
