Legion Baseball Team Disbands Because Of Insufficient PlayersiNocona’s American Legion baseball team disbanded this week because of a lack of sufficient players. This was announced by Manager Dwight Holcomb, who simultaneously gave the Legion his resignation as head of the team.“The reason for Nocona dropping baseball,” Holcomb said, “is the lack of players it takes to operate a club at its maximum level. It was not fair to the six or seven regular players who wereinterested enough to follow theteam through the summer months.“A team,” Holcomb added, “should have 12 to 15 dependable players in order to function properly.”The team’s last game was played here last Thursday against Wind-thorst, the locals winning, 7 to 6.Nocona gained three runs in the first inning, added one in the third and two more in the fourth. Although Windthorst brought in four men in the sixth, the visitors added only one .more run in the seventh.
