The “Whiskers” won the evening’s hitting spree by an 11 to d count.Drawn hither by the lure of night baseball, Grover Cleveland Alexander, former renowned major league pitcher, and a be whiskered team supposed to represent the elan of the Houseof David, a quarter of an hour before the game was called, found the grandstand filled from walk to roof, with a row of young bucks on top to boot. Both turned in an excellent game with Guzy getting the edge on strike outs. Seven of the David batters were whiffed by his offerings, while five of the Engles! succumbed before the withering curves of the left-handed Tolls.“Befty” LaFIeur, former Eagle right fielder, now with the “Whiskers,” singled in the first inning and went the round on a single and a put-out at first. The Eagles, playing good ball behind the superb pitching of Guzy, held a 3 to 2 lead over their whiskered rivals to the seventh inning, when the opposition fireworks started.
