BOXING CONTESTSWILL BE HELD |NIGHT OF FOURTH!*There will he boxing contests in the Oxnard Opera house on the night of July 4th., for which the doors will open at 7:30 o’clock. There will be three events, as outlined by George Lawless, the manager of the club. The first will be between Gus Larson, the terrible Sweed, who gave Murrietta such a hard contest some time ago in this city, and Jim Murrietta. of Ox- J nard. Larson comes from San Pedro. I Ed. C'oberly of Camarillo and Chas j Kan* of Venice will box six rounds afcatc h weights. Both are shifty box-j ers and fast men and should give a ! good exhibition.Joe Lopez of Los Angeles and Geo. Mackie of Venice will have a six-round preliminary bout at 124 pounds, j The contests will be conducted In • an orderly manner, we are assured by 1 the management and considerable in-jterest is manifested in the main event on account of the first appearance of: the two men in this city and the game | exhibition that they put up. ;Admission to the boxing contests i will be $1.00, $1.50 and $2.00.
