The Tom Thumbs had a meeting the other might and decided they needed a name for their hockey team They decided to call themselves the Shoal Lake Jets.January 22ndHamiola came to our arena to return an exhibition game and were sent home rather rudley as the Jets whipped them 9-3. Chi'- speedy cecfr Myles Buchanan had himself an outstanding game and led the team all night, besides scoring 3 goal?. Ken. Wowryk is still producing at a rapid paee and picked up 2 goals. Other goal scorers were Doug Men-teriko, Ronald Susinsfci, Derrick Ed-mumdson and Michael Richcoon all wii h singles. Dolt;ug Minteinko, Ronald Surirsfki, Richard Storzuk, and Ken Wowryk all picked up 2 assists ealc'h, with singles going to Gordon Woods, Jim Lawson, De-pick Ed-mundson, David McLean, and Wayne Shea:down. 'r v*t January 25thErickson travelled to the Shoal Lake arena and were also defeated | by the Jets to run their present un- j beaten sttreak to 7 games. The score was 4 to 2 in favour of the Jets. Goal i scorers for the Jets were Gordon Woods, Myles Buchanan, Doug Miim-temko, and Ken Wowryk all with singles. Myles Buchanan hustled all might and picked up two assists with j singles going to Gordon Woods and ;Richard Storozuk.A good part of our present success |has been on account of the fine play of our defenirive squad. Jim Lawson ' and Wayne Sheardown have teamed j up to be a pair of real nigged de-! fenders.Greg Short and Richard Storozuk are not taking, but handing out good stiff body checks, a:s well as clearing the puck out of their own zone. Dav id McLean and Darcy Purdy still continue to play a heads up hockey and are making some real fine plays.Myles Buchanan has jumped ahead in tfhe individual scoring race and now has 13 goals and 9 assistsfor a total of 22 points.
