Gilbert girls defeat AmesB JENNIFER SELBEKGBalanced scoring and quickness helped the Gilbert Tigerettes post a 76-43 victory over the Ames Little Cyclones in a girls' basketball game atGilbert Saturday night.Ann Matthews scored 30 points for the winners. Teammates Erin Eggers and Stephanie Terrones scored 29 and17 points, respectively.Ames* Michelle Coadv was held to 22 points by Gilbert guard Sue Pepper. Pepper had an outstanding night with 15 rebounds and four steals.Other Ames scorers were Nancy Carroll with four points, Michelle ( oehrane with eight and Pam Blackwith four(»ilbert pulled out to a 15-point lead in the first quarter. The Tigerettes connected on 33-01-66 attempts for a 50 per cent shooting average.Debbie Lebo led the Little Cyclones with nine rebounds. Kim Bailey had eight and Julie Gilman four.Ames Coach Larry Middleton praised his guards for an excellent job ot blocking out. He said that the girlsare improving but still have a ways togo.The Cyclones are now 2-3 for the season.
