In some cities only one day is celebrated, when a procession of mists is formed, prince Carnin val at tbs bead, which passes through tbe principal streets of the city, and at which nearly all of the inhabitants and even the clergy often attend. The excitement ends with a Urge dinner and a grand ball.In Milwaukee, up to the outbreak of the war in 1861, a regular carnival proe.ssion during the diy and a ball masque in the evening wsa genera*ly arranged evtfry year; but frctn that time only masquerade balls were attended. Foremost of all masquerade ball* given in this city daring the last three or four years, was that of tie Gernriniaso« csety of Milwaukee. Consisting mostly of young men, this society baa won through untiring efforts the pitronnge of the entire public, and well deserves the fame it baa mostly achieved through its evening entertainment*, lectures aod balls. Tne fourth grand bal mosque and fancy 'dress carnival of the Germania will be given .at Turner’s hall ( Fourth street) on tbe 11th of Februa* ry. Everybody, tha^' intends having a glorious old time, should not fail, to attend, as no effort*are being spared to makd it the ball of the ttaton! A. B. G.
