Kofa, Yuma coaches smiling after meetTo look at the faces of Yuma wrestling Coach Tom Daniel and Kofa wrestling Coach Dave Sampson Saturday evening, it wouw be hard to tell that the Crims lost twice and the Kings lost once and tied once during their doubledual meet.Sampson, who watched his squad lose 37-17 to Tempe, then tie Me-Clintock 28-28, said he was pleased. This is the first time we haven't lost to McClintock, ever. Then withTempe, we lost a couple of close matches, said Sampson. And in both matches we forfeited at two weights. So 1 can't be disappointed. I'm very happy. The kids are coming along.Daniel was equally as optimistic after his Crims lost 37-14 to McClintock and 51-9 to Tempe, I thought the kids wrestled well. We lost some matches that I thought we could have just as easily won. but I’m not discouraged. We re justgoing to have to suck up. work a little harder and get ready for divisionals.We are a young team, and we progress more each week. I think we are wrestling the lest we can, and it will just be a matter of time before it all comes together.The double-dual meet matched the Kings against top-ranked Tempe first. And Kofa accepted the challenge. After dropping the first matches, the Kings bounced rightback with wins from Craig Labistre at 114 pounds, Julio Gascu at 121 pounds and Miguel Villarreal at 128 pounds. But just when the club was i)cginning to build momentum, the two forfeits at 134 and 140 pounds popped up and the Buffaloes took control.We had some young kids in there who I felt would really get drilled, and that does them no good.
