NEW PROPRIETOR OPENS PIERPONT INNPierpont Inn was opened by Walter Hempel, the new owner with a banquet given to the business men of Ventura last evening. Sixty reservations had been received and the guests enjoyed a real Southern chicken dinner, with candied yams, roast suckling pig, roasting ears and other culinary delights familiar only to the old colored chef from the South. Manager Hempel has installed an entire staff of colored help in the kitchen and dining room, and will serve milk-fed chicken dinners both noon and night to dinner guests. Tea will also ^ be served daily from 4 to 5 p. m.I The Inn has been thoroughly overhauled, and a pool table and other furnishings added, work is progressing on the Inn golf course which the new proprietor hopes to have ready for play in 30 days.• Reservations have been made for several banquets to be given in the near future.The Ventura County Medical Association will entertain the doctors of Santa Barbara at the Inn, February 9, and the Ventura Merchants’ Associa-1 tion will have its annual dinner on the day following.
