Three Bouts Pulled off by the ElkhartAthletic Association.The Elkhart Athletic Association last night put up a fine card at their 1 gymnasium on East Jackson street. I Nearly 500 admirers of the expo- 1 neats of the manly art were present, I including a number of the city offi-1 cials, council men and Chief of Police! Silvers and several patrolmen. IThe first bout on the card was to I have been between Jack Woods of] Elkhart and Jimmy Sager of South I Bend, the latter the well known ball! player. Mr. Sager could not go on! however, on account of an injury to! his shoulder. Lee Swain of Elkhart, was substituted and put up a credit-1 able fight. The referee called the ] fight a draw at the end of the third! round, both men being apparently all! in and unfit to continue the fighting I for three more rounds. IThe semi-windup was one of the 1 best exhibitions of the scientific part of the game ever witnessed in Elk-1 hart. The principals were Paddy Me-1 Farland of Chicago, and Bobby Ferris of Elkhart. The former wras the ag-| gressor during the entire six rounds,! Ferris being content to block his I swings, jabs and uppercuts, which he succeeded in doing very nicely.. The decision giyen to McFarland and was Wfl: leceived by the fans.McBarland is but 16 years of age according to a statement he made last evening.„ The wrindup between Maurice Rauch of Chicago and Pat Kenneally of South Bend, was over the ten round route and under straight Queensberry rules and was a good one. The men recently fought a draw in South Bend and the fight last night ended witha like decision. Rauch had a slight advantage over Kenneally until the last round when the latter came back strong and earned a draw.Ed. Rucker of Elkhart, and matchmaker for the Athletic Association refereed all the bouts. Altogether the card was one of the best seen in this part of the state for some time and the management is to be congratulated. Ferris and McFarland and Rauch and Kenneally will probably rneeet again in twro wreeks. About twenty-five Goshen people were present.
