Balked at Wheaton and Lake Forest, Leaders Select ' Michigan Town,Having been balked at Wheaton, “the bone and sinew” of the negro race in Chicago has now determined to establish a Summer colony at Muskegon, Mich.Muskegon is quite as fashionable as wheaton. Among the wealthy folk who own property there are Charles Moore Hackley, Mrs. Laura Hills. Frank G. Jones, Philip p. Sehnorbach. John G. Emery Jr., Thomas Hume. William Muu-roe, Walter J. Reynolds. Roy Cummings, Harry II. Hines—all millionaires or near millionaires or multi-millionaires.I)r. A. Wilberforce Williams, one of the ‘ground floor” members of the ‘‘Carey-ville” project at Wheaton, last night told of the new enterprise.“We couldn't get into Wheaton and we couldn't get into Lake Forest, so we have decided on Muskegon. You can say for me that Pony Moore isn’t in this Muskegon enterprise. The backers are the Rev. A. J. Carey of Bethel A. M. E. Church, L. L. Jones, Stanley W. Price, George E. Henderson, W. R. Cowan and myself. Dr. A. \\ ilberforce Williams—don’t make that A. W.‘‘We haven’t exactly decided on a site, and if we had it wouldn’t do for us to announce it, but we have a real estate man working for us and we hope to pick up something suitable.”
