SuccessfTi:or Lakin GirlLAKIN — Diane Vann, LakinHigh School hurdler, has had more success in women’s trackand field.Recently she won the flO-yardhurdles during the Topeka Cosmo Club’s 10th annual tryouts for the indoor season. The trials were at University of Kansas in Lawrence.The 17-year-old Lakin girl won both her preliminary heat and the finals in the identicaland excellent times of 8.2 seconds.She also won her preliminaryheat in the 60-vard dash, and was fourth in the finals of that event. She registered a creditable clocking of 21.0 seconds for the 175-yard indoor dash.Twenty-three girls from throughout Kansas participated in the tryouts. Included were eight hurdlers. Diane was accompanied to the trvouts by her father. Martin Vann.The victory retained a position on the Cosmo team for h»r in nnnminlt;» meets.
