Locals Make Determined Spurt in Last Half But Fail Short.(By Hugh D, Greer, Jr.)In one of the fastest games of basketball ever played at Lorain, Loiain High last night defeated Elyria High by a score of 32 to 21. The first half ended 23 to 5 in favor of Lorain. The locals came haclc strong in the last half, holding Lo-laia to nine points and scoring 10 themselves in the meantime.In the first half Lorain seemed to walk rigfat away from the locals From the start Lorain showed excellent team work while the Elyria bo vs were wild in their passing.Smith starred as point getter, getting four field baskets while Colgan starred at guard. Sinclair was by far the best Lorain had, getting sax field baskets.it was plainly seen from the start that Elyria must overcome the difficulties of playing on so small a floor as Lorain's, while Lorain showed the result of week's of practicing.Marsh, a new man for the locals, showed up fair m the time he had but he is very nervous when handling the hall. While Persons could not keep pace with Sinclair. The first half ended 23 to 5 in favor of Lorain. ^in the second half Elyria came hack strong with Mevins and Chamberlain both showing their real worth Had Elyria played the first half as they did the second thescore would have undoubtedly been n*versed. Jn this half Elyria fairly run away from Lorain, which goes lo show that even if Elyria did get heat they still have a team that could whip Lorain on neutral floor. In the first, half Lorain shot ten hold baskets while Eiyija shot huttwo. In the second half Elyria ‘■hot eight baskets to Lorain's four. All goes to show that the Lorain team had to hustle some to keep up. If I may I would like to criticize (’cacti Corwin for not taking lawyer out and putting Walsh or Mendelson in.
