GIBBONS TALKS OF PACKEYSay* New York May Be Mack EnthusedOrer the Stock-yards Scrapper.(Chicago, January 15.—Michael Gibbons, the St. Paul shadow, breezed in and out of town last night with Msng er Eddie Reddy. The Irishman with the punch and che glove skill was here long enough, however, to talk about his recent conquest of Rob McAllister and his combat with the well known Patrick McFarland, of our south side. While waiting tor Reddy to finish a corference with Emil Thiry on the financial details of the big New York bout, Michael discoursed as follows:“Of coursa, I expect to bsat McFarland. 1 think I can whip anybody in the business up to 160 pounds, and right now I don't weigh over 145 myself.8ut 1 will say this much lor McFarland. He is the one fellow out of the whole gang of middles and welters that has a real chance with me in ten rounds. Packey is some boxer and nobody knows it better than Gibbons. If he opens up in our New York scrap and meets me half way those present will see a wonderful! fight.“1 think I can safely say that 1 am♦the lone person who has outwitted Packey in the matchmaking line in recent years. The weight we have agreed on, 145 pounds at 4 o'clock, is easy for me. 1'li be at my very best when I get into theT ring with Packey acd he'll have to step faster than he ever did in bis life if|ke keeps away from me.“The.match is bound to draw $30,000.Since 1 beat McAllister they are talking but Gibbons and McFarland in G otbara. The big town will be wildly excited over the mill when the battle day arrives.“What did I do to McAllister? Why,I jjut knocked him out. He's the cleverest big fellow I ever saw in action. He weighs 160, you know, and for four rounds he was twice as fast as I, and you know I am no slouch when it comes to getting around. Well then he atarteb to slow up and 1 got to him in the sevenih. He lacks stamina and he can't hit’hard enough to break an egg.Bob can outbox a lot of them over ^ the ten-round route at that, but I can't t see bow he ever lasted twenty with a rough one like Petroekey.Gibbons and (Reddy went along to their St. Paul homes tonight. Mike has called off two or three matches and ^ will not box again untill he collides 3 with McFarland. The exact date of E the battle is not known as yet, but it will be either February 6 or Febuary 12.Pco8ra0rMay .Swap Players.Chicago, Jan. 17. — Rumors that Presidents Ebbets, of Brooklyn, and Mur-Pby, of th?
