Wayne Stark, director of the Student Memorial Union ^ at Texas UkM will be the mainIs the Purpose of a Union?’’ Mr. Stark is a graduate of the Untver-gity and former editor of the Cactus.The entire Union activities council and representatives from eighteen Union committees will be present at the retreat. Final plans for next semester’s Union program and the problems of Union expan-tion will be the main topics of discussion.Jitter Nolen, Union director, said that this will probably be one ofsportsmanship of the Texas team, saying Delano Womack came back 1 to the dressing room after the: Frogs had beat Texas and said, “You just keep your guys ready. Burton Scholarship award, donated by the Longhorn ! Band, was presented to Bob Tucker for “having the highest qualities of leadership on and off the field.” Wally Lawson presented the , sportsmanship award to Delano Womack for showing most sports-. manship on and off the field.Bo Sexton received the D. X. Bible “Team Spirit Aw'ard.”Both scholarship aw-ards went to Pat Tolar, pre-med student from San Antonio. Jimmy Clark presented him w’ith the Scholarship Award given to the senior football player who has maintained the j highest scholastic average at the ; University. He also received the Ex-Students’ aw ard for the senior athlete with the highest scholastic 1 average.t Sports Editor Clark Nealon pre- j sented Tha^ Houston Post’s award for oest SWC lineman of the year; to Herb Gray.The award was a lady’s wrist I watch, which Gray gave to his wife. Mr. Nealon explained that football players receive so many watches in special bowl games, etc., that they thought it would be appropriate to present a watch to the player’s wife.Entertainment was furnished by the Texas Union.
