Warns the Sheriff., Springfield, Ills, Jan. 17—Governor Tales sent a loiter to Sheriff Barrett of Cook county, calling attention to the prbefight scheduled to be fought before the American Athletic club of Chicago next Monday night between Benny Yanger and young MowatL The governor calls the sheriff’s attention to section 2'i of tho criminal code, which prohibits prizefights, and to section 2r prohibiting sparring and boxing exhibitions, and declares the fight or exhibition wii! he dearly in violation of the law and thal actjon should be taken by the sheriff to pro-vent the same.
