The Rime of base ball played at the rink a week ago to-day is said to be a ,verv tame affair, as was also the race • rbetween Walter Laidlaw on skates and Charlie Heaney on his bicycle,Saturday•• 1evening. The door was too smooth to j permit of fast running. Laidlaw won , the race by one lap. tho score standing , 14 to 15. He is the best skater in the | city and can undoubtedly make better . time than he did m this race.
