(AP) — The American Football League Players Association voted Tuesday to ask for federal certification of the association as the official representative of the league’s players.Jack Kemp, Buffalo Bills quarterback who was re-elected to a third term as president of the association, said, “this certification will assure that thePlayers Association will be the recognized spokesman for its players in their relations with the owners.”He said due to the “growth of pro football and the continuing intervention of outside labor organizations, the Players Association deserves the protection such certification will help insure.99The AFL action follows closely moves made Monday by theNational Football League Players Association.
