Legion Team Winss1.dFrom Fairview, 5-2The Fairview and Peace River (J juniors met for the first time this cj season on Peace River ice last (1 Thurday evening, Peace River coming out on the long end of a 5-2 score. There was a large turn-o out of fans and everyone went a-d way satisfied, having witnessed a d ; good fast game of hockey.The boys piayeJ four fifteen-i- minute periods. Play started with I both teams playing very cautious-y ly About the middle of the first s period Hemstock and Bennett e I combined on a beautiful rush. •- Hemstock scoring with a shot that s gave Mann no chance. After this n the Peace River first forward line t put on the pressure, Martineau.Alinchin and Johnston going down s j three abreast and soon gettingMcDonald in difficulties. Sonnv% '•1! Johnston picked up a loose puck ! in front of the goal and slammed it in for his team's first score, the ! period ending 1-1.! The second period saw Fairview on the offensive and it wasf1ineceseary for Mann to make some real clever saves. However, Van-hook and Bennett broke through, the former flipping the puck past Mann to put his team in the lead, t j The third period started out in '^sensational fashion. Martineau ?j scoring in exactly half a minute - from the face-off. It was Marti- neau’s big night as he repeated the i performance twic? in the next ten »I minutes, the period ending P. R. 4, Fairview 2.1 j The last period showed lack of e j practice on the part of the visitors; they could not stand the strain, and the local team had a decidedJ edge on the play. Martineau a-e gain picked up a rebound and t (slammed it home for the last and final goal of the game which ended, Peace River 5, Fairview 2.It was a good game to watch and after a few more practices thesame Fairview team will be real opposition for the locals. Van-hook was the bad man of the night, j being sent to the cooler twice. An-idrews, Martineau and Bennett Were also sent to the dugout for minor offences.For Fairview, Vanhook, Bennett and Hemstock showed up , good. Hemstock had the misfortune to contract a bad cramp in his leg during the last period. For Peace River, Bachmier, Minchin, Martineau and Johnston were the outstanding players. Martineau notched four of the five chalked up to his team.Both goalies played well although McDonald seemed a trifle i nervous at times, j Much credit is due Ralph: Hutchinson for the wav he i.-%| whipping the Peace River team into shape.
