Will commencement and Coliseum join?West Virginia University's 1970 commencement exercises may be the first campus activity to be held in the still-under-construction, $10 Vz millionColiseum here.“Barring any unavoidable delays, said a University spokesman, the Coliseum “is to be complete by that time. ’’Specific plans for commencement will probably be announced in April, said the spokesman, and the completion date is set for “the late winter or early spring/’ The “original hope had been that the structure would be completed in time for the last basketball game of the season, in February, but that's very doubtful. If the Coliseum is not finished in time for graduation exercises, commencementwill be held, as in past years, at the WVU Fieldhouse.Usual graduation exercise plans are for a processional at 2 p.m., acommencement at 3 p.m. and then graduates return to their respective schools for their degrees. But there would be no processional if the event is held at the Coliseum, said the ’ spokesman.Professor of Journalism William R. Summers is in charge of planning the commencement exercises. The Coliseum, when completed, will be used for a host of campus activities, such as all home basketball games, lectures and shows by major entertainers.
