GRAVEYARD INSURANCE.The Officers of the Colonial Life In- , huranee Co. of America Cause the Arrest of Three Men.New York, Jan. 11.—Believing that they were the victims of “grave yard insurance*’ swindles,' officers of the Colonial Life Insurance Co. of America, located in Jersey City, Thursday caused the arrest of Thomas Martin, 1 J editor of a Union Hill (N. J.) qews- 1 paper; William Necker, an under- j taker in Union Hill, and Thomas J. 1 Kelly, a pugilist, whose right name is said to be Thomas Waldron, who, until recently, was an agent for the ! company. Dr. Richard Jahr. a West Hoboken physician, and formerly the » medical exapiiner in Union Hill for the company, went to police headquarters, but after making a statement was not placed under arrest. Secretary and Manager Ernest Hop-penlieimer. of the insurance company, said he did not think Dr. Jahr had ‘ been guilty of a criminal intent, but j ' had been careless in signing papers 1 presented by Kelly.DjImr of ConNiimption. (An indictment had been found! against the four men on the charge that they had conspired to secure insurance on the life of Robert Bren-; ner, a boy of 17, who was the broth- • er of Martin’s wife. The insurance \ was secured in August last, when 1 Brenner was an inmate of Bellevue I hospital. Martin was the beneficiary. Brenner’s application had been secured bj* Kelly as agent; he had been examined and passed by Dr. Jahr, and his body had been buried by Xeeker, the undertaker. It was charged that .Brenner was dying of consumption when the policy was granted.
