Carlyle TopsBlaekhawksCARLYLE — The Carlyle Indians stayed in contention for the Egyptian-Illini Conference title with a 65-55 victory over the I Sandoval Blaekhawks Friday. The loss was Sandoval’s third in league play which leaves the Hawks one game back of leading Okawville. Carlyle and Okawville have lost two.A1 Crocker dumped in 24 points for the winners and Rod Wrone added 16 to boost Carlyle into the w'in column. Ken Gregory paced the losers with 18 and Marty Basola tossed in 13.Carlyle opened a 28-24 half-time lead and held a 5-point margin entering the final quarter. A big last period put the game out of reach.Carlyle also won the preliminary game 56-36 as Roger Boyd hit 15 points.
