U—— Ip»Farther Particulars relative to the Fight be. tnveen Humphries' and Mendoza.THERE exifted, previous to'this conreft, arooted antipathy between the parties,which, during the time it continued, a perfon fuperficially {killed in pbyfiognomy might eafily have difcovered; in the countenance of Mendoza there was a kind of contemptuous laugh ; on that of Humphries there appeared an implacable hatred of his adverfary. Humphries treated the Jew with the greateft indifference , before the conteft, and declared that he could , not poffibly fuffer*it to continue above five mi- | nntes. The refult of the battle proved this po-.: fitive affertron erroneous, for he W3S for the {pace of 26 minutes perpetually retreating from the impetuofity of the Jew’s movements, who forced hinT to every corner of the ftage, and gave him a deciGve blow, that occafioncd the fence of the ftage to give way, and by which the back of Humphreys was excoriated. In the courfe of the encounter, Johnfo-i ftepped in between the combatants, and prevented Mendoza following up a blow which probably might have produced a material turn in the conteft.
