'49In an assembly held yesterday morning in the High school auditorium the main speaker was Thomas Sears, publicity director of the Essex county cliapter of the National Society for Infantile Paralysis. Mr Sears *as introduced by Principal Patrick J Mumane who briefed the audience abotjt the seriousness of this dread disease, which has caused many deaths and much sorrow since it broke out in this country in 1916.A short color movie was shown, following Mr. Sears talk It was taken at the infantile paralysis camp at Plum Island and the type of life led by the victims who stayed there for a three weeks’ (eriods during the summer Nancy Noyes played the piano, as the pupils entered and leftthe auditorium.In recent intra-mural games played at the NHS gymnasium the Evil Eyes, led by Robert Whitney and Johnny Packer, defeated the J J. club by the score of 27 to 4 and the Yearlings surprised the galley by holding Ethan Allen’s terrors, who figure to take the league title, in the minds of many experts, to a 14 to 7 scoreWhitney was the high scorer for thedayIn the second contest, the Terrors displayed a fast passing attack, but many of their shots went awry although their lead was never in danger “Moose” Guzinski was the high scorer with eight points and Dick Nolan led the Yearlings with four points.
