Riverdale wins Craig tourneyBy winning six of the 13 weight classifications, Riverdale captured the team championship in Saturday’s Janesville Craig Invitational wrestling meet.In addition to claiming the champion in six weight classes, Riverdale also registered one second place finish and one third to score 192 points. Second place in the nine team event went to Janesville Parker with II6V2 points. Janesville Craig placed seventh with 61 points.Parker’s second-place finish was a results of six second place finishes.Among those Vikings who placed second were: Eric Champion at 112, Andy Blaser at 119, Adam Griffin at 130, Mike Cruseat 152, Tom Gonzales at 160 and Jim Barlass at 171.In addition to the six second-place finishes the Vikings also got third-place showings out of Jason Knopes at 140 and Jeff Abb at 189.Craig’s Mike Gittings and Dan Rettkowski were each victorious in their respective weight classes. Gittings earned the title at 119, while Rettkowski was the champion at 171.In addition to the varsity meet, a sophomore tournament was also held. Like the varsity meet, Riverdale came out victorious and Parker was second. Riverdale won the meet by outscoring Parker, 202 to 168.
