Houston Gymnastics in Hampshire.—tl. A. Blunkct, E«*q. of Milo End! HaiiU,\ oncoming into possession of the valuable Houston estate, gave a full day's play of sport to the gentlenteu and rustics in various amusements, the first of which was a shooting match at 21 pigeons for a silver cup and cover. Tuesday was the day appointed for the sports, which commenced with the ahooting match at 21 birds each, for which twelve candidates entered into a subscription of two guineas each, to be distributed for other minor prizes. The first was won by Horner beating Gibbous. The second by Karnes beating Glossep. The third by young Belihorse beating Cruise, the gypscy.A cudgelling or backsword match next took place for 5gs., In threes, which was won by John Dore, from Cornwall.A decorated chemise, and other apparatus of dress were next run for by damsels of the Houston ‘Hundred, which was won by Mary Mu!ford.—A half mile heat.The last match was between six boys of the Hundred, with their hands tied behind, catching oranges from a huge tub of water with their mouths, which created much diversion.
