GARDEN VALLEY — The Golden Sierra High boys basketball team returned to action Friday night in a non-league contest. The entire Grizzly squad was intact for the first time this year, overcoming injuries that have plagued the squad.Golden Sierra used their new-found health to bump and grind its way to a physical 49-33 victory over the Rio Vista Rams (4-8).The Grizzlies (6-9) built on a 1-point halftime lead, holding Rio Vista to one second-half field goal and 11 total points.Golden Sierra scored effectively against full-court pressure in the half. Phil Seabury scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the half to pace the Grizzlies. Bryan Scheneman drove hard to the basket, igniting the crowd and the Golden Sierra fast break,scoring 11 points for Golden Sierra.After the intermission, the Golden Sierra defense took over the ball game. Playing a physical style, the Grizzlies took Rio Vista totally out of its offense in the third period, outscoring the Rams 13-3.
