Row 3: John5 Canterbury, Paul Eastvold, Marlin’ Anderson, Don Van Hove, Larry Johnson.Lincoln-Eden and IThe Buffalo Buddies copped the 1965 Winnebago 4-H Junior Tournament with a 29-26 win over the Lincoln-Eden Clippers in the tournament finals on December 29.The Senior Championship was won by the Lincoln-Eden Clippers with a 23-13 win over the Center Champions.The Buffalo Buddies win came with a well-balanced attack with Ken Risius netting nine points, eight by Dean Ostrander, five by Hippen, four by Tony Smith and three by Dave Ostrander.For Lincoln-Eden in their win over Center, Don Wubben and Darryl Friest each had 6 points, Johnson had 5, Anderson 4 and Flo 2.The holiday 4-H tournament in Winnebago County is an annual 4-H affair held between Christmas and New Year’s.This year’s tournament had eleven Junior teams and nine 1 Senior teams entered from ele-i ven 4-H Clubs.Scores of first round play on December 28 were as follows: Junior Tournament Buffalo Buddies 17; Forest Everreadies 6 : Linden Livewires 46; Newton Carry-Ons 2 Thompson Jr. Farmers 43; Logan Go-Getters 1 ; Norway Vikings 30; Grant Go-Gettez’s 18 Lincoln-Eden Clippers 31; Mt. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Legried will be in charge of the program. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Appel of Mankato will present an Alaskan Travelogue on their recent trip to our northern-most state. Singing will be provided by the Men’s Chorus and Women’s Chorus of the local congregation.Following the program there will be a Fellowship Hour in the church parlors. Eastvold of Rake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Eastvold, of rural Rake. Patricia is a 1965 graduate of the Rake Community High School and is attending Mankato State College. Her fiance is a graduate of the Rake High School and of Mankato College and is in the insurance business at Rake. A June wedding is being planned.Community Club To See Bank-Sponsored FilmThe Rake Community Club will meet Saturday evening, Jan. 8 at 8 p. m. at the town hall.The State Savings Bank is sponsoring the meeting and the film, ‘‘The Land We Love” will be shown.
