Redd Connolly new weighs 137 pounds and Is in most excellent shape for his bout with Jack Bain of Calitov-! nia.whi is doing his training with Bucs ( Stelzer in Columbus. 'Bain yesterday weighed 134 pounds and the men will enter the ring at about 136. Last evening's Press’fost announced an excursion on the Pan 'Handle road to Newark for the event on Tuesday evening and said that a number of tickets had already been disposed of. Bain is well thougur of in Columbus and there will be plenty of money to put on him at the ring here. Stelzer will probably second Bam and as he has met Connolly twice his coaching will do Bain an imense amount of good against the wily Philadelphian. Newark sports are standing by Connolly and several i bets have heen made on the result at different points about town. It is only just to say that Connolly is going up against the strongest game he has heen in since his appearance in the west, but it is also true that he is in better j shape than at any time in the last two years. His work on the bag, rope j 'jumping and sparring with his trainers show that he is faster and stronger than at any time since he came to Newark.An attractive feature of Tuesday evening's entertainment will be a thirty minute bag punching exhibition in the ring by Mr. Jack Scanlan who i, acknowledged to be the champion of the Central States m his line. Air. Scanlon has several medals and recommendations from all over the United States. He has been with some of the best acrobatic combinations on tho road, and his specialty of punching the bag while blindfolded is something new about Newark. This turn 'will go on immediately before the event between Connolly and Bain, and those desiring to see it, will do well to be in the hall by 9 o’clock.The prices will be $1 to lower floof ' :}ud 50 cents to the gallery.
