CBA announces All-StarsDENVER (UPI) — The Continental Basketball Association Tuesday announced the lineups for its 14th annual All-Star game and, as one could expect, a typically mixed bag of former college standouts and NBA players will fill the rosters.The game played on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.The top-10 vote recipients, chosen by CBA coaches and the medi-a, comprise the lineups. However, the host Fort Wayne Fury had to be represented by at least one player.The American starting lineup consists of the top five vote-getters at each position, including forwards Jerome Lane of the La Crosse Catbirds and Harold Ellis of the Quad City Thunder, center Dan Bingenheimer of the Hartford Hellcats and guards Reggie Jordan of the Grand Rapids Hoops and Rodney Monroe of the Rochester Renegades.The National starters consist of forwards Roy Marble of the Fargo-Moorhead Fever and Kelby Stuckey of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, center Ben Coleman of the Rapid City Thrillers and guards Alphon-so Ford of the Tri-City Chinook and Sean Gay of the Omaha Racers.Rounding out the American Conference roster are guards Clinton Wheeler (Rochester) and Jeff Martin (Grand Rapids), center Bobby Martin (Quad City) and forwards Travis Williams (Fort Wayne Fury) and Chris Jent (Columbus Horizon).Frontliners Kenny Payne (Tri-City) and Chuckie White (Wichita Falls Texans) and guards Rod Mason (Omaha) and Leon Wood (Fargo-Moorhead) have been named as National Conference reserves. Isaac Austin of the Oklahoma City Cavalry was selected to the National team, but will not play due to a knee injury. Austin’s replacement is center Chad Gallagher of the Omaha Racers.Rapid City head coach Eric Musselman, who has the Thrillers off to a league-best 16-5 record, will guide the National All-Stars for the third consecutive year. The head coach was selected from the team with the highest average standings points through games of Jan. 1.La Crosse head. coach Flip Saunders will guide the American All-Stars. The First coach in CBA history to record five consecutive 30-win seasons, Saunders has the Catbirds off to an American Conference-best 14-6 record.For the eighth consecutive year, the All-Star Game will be televised nationally, beginning with a half-hour preview show at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2. The game will also be broadcast live nationally on the American Sports Radio Network.
