Meanwhile Uniontown High School continued its merry unbeaten way with a 66-44 win over Monessen, a squad figured to give the jRaid-ers a battle for Section 5-A honors.Ron Sepic tanked 25 for the Raiders who broke the game open with a 21-9 spurt in the fourth quarter, and rolled to their eighth successive win. Albert Gallatin took North Union out of the un-beatens lineup with a 75-73 win that snapped the Rams’ skein of four. Leon Mickens scored 35! points in leading the Colonials to their eighth win in nine tries. In what amounted to some sort of a surprise win, Fairchance-Georges, winner only twice in six exhibition attempts, dumped Redstone 86-66. The Hawks had sailed through seven straight exhibition wins in easy fashion prior to last night. All five Runner starters hit in double figures, led by Ken Goldsmith’s 26. Both sides had 28 baskets, but FG shot 30 for 42 on the foul line, and Redstone 10 out of 20, which proved to be the ultimate edge.FHsfHvlifirp Smith Union nnirhprlLeading at every post along the way, St, Rita’s basketball team of Conneilsville romped to its second successive victory, 30-15, over the Immaculate Conception Juniors, at the Crawford School floor.Coach Pete Salatino’s cagers, with two wins in as ijiaay exhibition contests to date, will open their Greensburg Diocese CYO League schedule Monday, Jan. 7, against SL Joseph’s of Mount Pleasant. Game time at the Crawford gym is 7 p.m.Against the IC Juniors, St. Rita’s used a strong defense which the losers were unable to penetrate, coupled with a balanced scoring attack that saw nine players breaking into the scoring column.St. iRta’s jumped off to a 12-2 lead after one quarter, 18-8 at the half, tipped that to 26-12 after three periods, then outscored the losers 4*3 in the final stanza.
