Fairview controls theboards and HicksvilleHICKSVILLE—Fairview controlled the boards and with it the game Friday night in Hicksville, as the Apaches defeated the Aces, 59-46, in the GMC opener for both squads.The Apaches had 37 rebounds including 20 on the offensive boards while Hicksville had 26 total caroms and just seven on the offensive boards as the visitors moved to 5-4 on the season while the Aces dropped to 1-9.Tim Shininger was high scorer for Fairview with 18 points while Ray Boes contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds and Joe Leithauser 10 points and nine rebounds. Kirk Leazier paced Hicksville with 16 markers while Barry Schrock had a dozen points and seven boards.The winners were 23 of 55 from the field for 42 percent and 13 of 27 from the foul line for 48 percent while the Aces made 14 of 49 shots from the floor for 29 percent and 18 of 24 foul shots for 75 percent. Hicksville committed one more turnover, 24-23.Fairview returns to action Friday with a big home GMC encounter against Antwerp while Hicksville is at Pettisville tonight.
