I know our family is looking forward to a better or should I say healthier year than our last one.Winnipeg School BonspielThe Winnipeg School Bonspiel went into full swing last Thursday. Congratulations to Chris Croy, Jason Dcprez, Greg Melynchuk and Derrick Riley on winning the Pepsi Cola Event in the Junior Men’s Division. They received the Pepsi Cola Trophy to take back to their club or school, as well as individual olaaucs and sift cer-year guys. Both games lost were within one point. Good show guys!The Junior girls event went well for Kelly Tyerman, Kim Fox, Cindy Lillies and Mary Brindley. They won the second event and got to take home the MLCA Youth Bonspiel Trophy. Each girl also received an individual plaque to take home to remember the big event. Their final game was against CFB Winnipeg. Congratulations girls!There is definitely enough curling to watch this weekend with the Men’s Zone being played in Balmoral and a weekend bonspiel at Rosser. The Argyle Men’s starts on Thursday for ten days with 48 rinks participating in three events. They stopped in to visit with Dick and Joyce Brindley and then they all travelled to Glen-boro to Shelley and Bill Ross’ to celebrate Christmas.Brenda and Brian Morash and family from Pinawa motored to Caulder, Saskatchewan Tor Christmas with Brian’s folks. They then dropped by Bill and Ethel Buchanans for a couple of days to visit family before travelling home in that Thursday storm.Merry Christmas to our Ukrainian families who will be celebrating Christmas on Jan. 7.It’s such a shame that the weather has been so beastly cold over the holidays. I’m sure there’s a few moms wishing the little ones could get out and play outside for awhile. Oh well, school will be starting again on Jan. 8, maybe there’s still time for some tobogganing and skating yet before heading back to school.Until next week — let’s hope the weather warms up.
