(Daily Report photo by Ron Witt)—w— •TigerswininsoccerChaffey High School’s varsity soccer team and Ians were still on Cloud Nine today after the Tigers upset No. 2 seeded South Torrance, 1-0, Friday afternoon at Graber Field, on the Chaffey campus.A Frank Fernandez goal off a header by Jack Castillon with 10 minutes left in the game provided the winning margin .A delighted Chaffey Coach Seiran Stepanian said. “Our kids just went nuts' following the victory that puts the Bengals m the quarter-finals probably atSalesian next Tuesday.“We knew we could hold them to a 0-0 game, but we weren t sure we could beat them,’’ added the Tiger mentor.Chaffey, physically smaller than the visiting Spartans, managed to contain the visitors offensivethrusts in the first half and then turned the tables with some agressive play of their own in the second half.South Torrance took 16 shots on goal, nine in the lirst half when the Spartans kept the bail in Chaffey territorv most of the time
