GaskeyPlansRacesPromoter John Gaskey is continuing with plans to operate the Concord Speedway and the Charlotte Fairgrounds speedways this season.Gaskey said he had been informed by Marshall Crouch, high bidder on the public auction to see the speedway, that he would be contracted to operate the Concord facility if his bid was approved.“I plan to begin racing twice weekly after the North Carolina Motor Speedway’s NASCAR race March 12,” Gaskey said. “We will race at Concord and at the Speedworld track on alternating Sundays until warm weather permits us to follow the regular schedule. We will then race at Speedworld on Fridays and Concord on Saturdays.”The Concord Speedway was ordered sold at public auction recently by the North Carolina Savings and Loan Association of Stanly County after default was made in monthly payments towards a $125,000 loan, made to International Speedways, Inc. in 1968.The International group was reorganized as Concord Speedway Inc. in 1970 and Crouch is one of the stockholders.Crouch bid $120,000 for the rack and his total must be raised by $6,050 by Monday at 5 d. m.
