The Knight seniors pulled a thriller out of the fire when Pan Morgan pushed in a one-hander from 15 feet out with but two seconds of play remaining to bring his team a 39 to 37 triumph. The victory moved the Knights into a second place tie id the North section with the Dragons, both teams each having a record of six wins and four defeats.Conch Naughton's St. Philipjuniors made it seven out ofnine when they dumped St. Rita without too much difficulty, 55 to 36. The victory enabled them to remain in a second place tie with lie l.aSalle. The Gaels, however, have onemore victory than the Southaiders. *John “W i m p y” O'Connor paced the Gaels’ winning attack against the Ritans. tallying 15 points on six baskets and three free throws. John Tully had 12 points and Chuck Hirth had 10. The Gaels took an early 13 to 8 lead and were never headed.St. Mel's juniors were practically eliminated from playoff contention when they dropped their contest to St. George by a 55 to 48 count. They now have a record of four victories anti six defeats. The only bright spot in the St. George game was Willie Abbatacolla's 16 points which gave him high scoring honors for his team.
