The Coming Season to be One of the Finest.Jl mew park and track.8Th* Oo operfttiou of the Wheeling LakeErie Railway Secured und Nothing to l«hvtt Undone—All Fore*# Vulted for th«Knter|rt86rThe astonishing success of the Cycle Club in its racing enterprises last season, the presence of a number of speedy youngsters, and a revived interest in base ball, have made it simply out*of the question for MaBsillon to get along this year without a good track and park. The driving park track is not in shape for fast work, and is too long, anyway, for fast riding and it has no diamond, and Russell park has been cut into building lots. This has made it necessary to look out for new grounds, and with that iu mind, several articles have J recently been published in this paper, ‘ outlining the situation. Sufficient interest was thus centralized to warrant Ray L. Markel and Wm. R. Lipps to take active hold of the matter, and they have obtained the support of the base ball fraternity and Massillon Cycle Club. The support pledged to them is such that the stock subscription papers will be passed around at once, and if all those who are recognized as supporters of the game and the sport-wili lend a haod, the park will be ready for the beginning of the season. The idea is to build a three-lap track for bicycle races, a grand stand, privilege stand, training quarters, base ball diamond, and neat high board fence. Everything is to be ship shape and adapted to all forms of out of door sport. It was thought at first that the old driving park ;11 just east of town would be the location. No doubt was felt about securing a ! P lease, bo the street railway people were consulted. The two promoters proposed to locate the park on their line, if they would erect the inclosure. This they did not seem inclined to do. By a happy inspiration, Supfc. Stoat, of the W. lt;Sc L.E., was next consulted. He was seen Saturday morning, and fell in with the j t-i suggestion at once. An admirable site on that road is in view, and he has promised on the part of the railway, to lurnish special trains at all times necessary, at street car rates, and to help along otherwise. With tnese assurances of support, Messrs. Maikel and Lipps will now press the matter to a logical conclusion.' f ictlt;Liiia;PajwolMvis*tifaP*d*tbfchoiA ft.ai17in
