TWENTY-ONE YEARS AGO(h(FROM THE NEWS REPUBLICAN)Saturday Evening, Feb. 26, 1938SACRED HEARTS WIN DIOCESE TITLEBoone Sacred Heart basketball team will leave for the state Catholic tournament at Davenport in a week as a result of winning the Sioux City diocese tournament at Fort Dodge Friday evening. Boone ousted Cherokee in the finals, 50 to 35.Boone was paced by the excellent playing of Donald Knight and Lawfrence Loehrer at center. Boone was awarded a silvertrophy for winning of the tourney. Playing on the winning Sacred Heart team were Knight, Cook, Yegge, Lonergan, Loehrer, Powers, Martin, Wheelock, Ma-honev and DeMouth.WINS FIRST PLACEMiss Ruthanne Herrald. Boonehigh school representative intory contest, won first place inthe humorous division with herreading, “Mind Over Matter’’ at Rippey this w'eek. Other Boone contestants, Misses Florence Walker and Dorothy Jipp, won second and third in their respective classes,PERSONAL MENTIONLeland, little son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Barstad, is ill with pneumonia and his condition remains about the same.Mrs. J. P. Keith has sold the hardware stock and shop of Keith Hardware store in the Fifth ward to Arthur L.
