Kohawks Near Second DivisionAs Visiting Rams Win, 82-75By Steve JamesCornell pushed Coe one step closer to a second division finish and kept their slim title hopes alive Saturday night by defeatingthe Kohawks. 82-75.The Rams gave Coach Paul Maaske his first victory over the Kohawks in the Coe gymnasium. The victory kept alive the hopes for a first place finish by the Rams, who were aided considerably by Carleton's victory over league leading Knox.An overflow crowd witnessed the Rams come back as they took the lead 34-33 at the half. Greg Koon, Ron Altenberg and Rich Merz then launched a two and a half minute spurt which pulled the Rams up to 15-13. A driving lay-up by Altenberg tied the game for the first time at 22-22.In the opening stages, Coe guard Ron Waekerle and Cornell’s Ron Altenberg matched basket for basket, with Altenberg scoring 12 points in the first half.The game was tied with 13:11 remaining, 52*51. Greg Ko«n then scored a basket and Altenberg added two more on tump shots. Coe cat the lead to one point twice and to three points, 75-72, with 1:50 left The Rams then went Into a three minnte stall, forcing Coe to commit a number of fools.Waeckerle was the high point man for Coe. scoring 20 points. Dick Knowles tallied 18 for the Kohawks.Cornel had balanced scoring, as Altenberg led with 22 points.
