MillerKent State’s Golden Flashes, after watching Bevo Francis in action Friday night, found out themselves how opponents must feel after taking a pounding from the fabulous five from Rio Grande.After Bevo and his boys had racked up a 100-51 victory rer Wilberforce university in the Cincinnati Garden, the Gol-en Flashes took a 94-63 lacing from Cincinnati’s Bearcats.Things grew even worse the fol-lt; lowing night at Oxford where BudKaerr’s cagers closed the 1952-53 season with a 99-57 loss to Miami.The two defeats gave Kent a 7-15 record for the season, and a 3-9 Mid-American conference slate.More than 8,000 spectators saw Kent State at its worst Friday night in the Garden. They came mainly to see Bevo play, and they stuck around for a quarter-and-a-half of the Kent-Cincy game. By then they had seen enough, and most of them left.They saw ragged basketball. They saw atrocious officiating. Between the two, it was a most boring athletic contest. A total of 99 fouls were shot in a game which started at 10:20 p.m. and ended the next day at 12:10 a.m.Four of Kent’s five starters fouled out of the game. Lowell Shumaker had only three personals, but even he was not around for the climax. He injured his knee in the third quarter while driving for a lay-in shot.Shumaker sat out the rest of this game and all of the Miami contest.The Golden Flashes stayed with Cincy for a quarter. It was 22-18 at the close of the first period, but the Bearcats pulled way ahead. They led 48-30 at the half and 70-47 atBOWLINGaPhi Kappa Tau will roll againstDelta Upsilon tonight to decidethe championship of League I inthe interfraternity bowling race. The League II winner was decided yesterday and either Chi Alpha or Kappa Sigma will play the winner of tonight's match.The all-university championship will be decided next w^eek when the winner of the fraternities plays the independent champ.Three KentinenLatest League CAccording* to statistics issued maker and Percy Grenfell qualify the Mid-American conference.The MA statisticians rate Shu-^-maker as the best foul shooter in the league.
